2011 Photography Thesis
Well, I can’t believe I am saying this, but my thesis exhibition is done and over with. This week flew by so quickly! I know there are a lot of people who were unable to make it to the show, so I have promptly uploaded my work to my portfolio so you can see what I have been up to this semester! My portfolio has my original images and a few installation views.
A lot of people have asked me what is next. For now, I am going to take a short break from conceptual photography to give my mind a rest. I have a ton of ideas for some design projects that I would like to do on my free time. I’m also open to freelance work, and some of my current/future freelance projects include: a logo design for an African safari company, wedding photography, portraits, etc. For my own work, I recently purchased an antique film camera that I’ve been dying to play around with.
The thing that I am most excited about with A Quarterlife Crisis is the ability to continue this work. As we all know, I’m going to be in the “quarterlife” stage for years to come, so I definitely intend to continue this work little by little as years go by.
This summer begins the job hunt. I’ll be staying in Bloomington to continue working as a Design Assistant at IU Creative Services, and waitress at the Comedy Attic through August. I have plans to build/design an ACTUAL website (I’m done with this 3rd party hosting business), and redesign/update my resume. My goal is to work as a designer at a firm in Chicago by this fall, so I have a lot to do to build up a design portfolio to get me there. I’d eventually like to be an art director someday!
