Well now I’ve done it. I decided to start fresh with a new blog. With my recent move to the Chicagoland area, I’ve had so many fresh thoughts and experiences that I’ve hardly had the time to share.
ATTENTION RECENT GRADS! Need help with your career path? I’d pay attention to this. For my most recent project, I illustrated and designed a logo to be used for a personal website banner and branding.
I feel pretty fortunate to have made some awesome connections while down here in Bloomington. Anyone I’ve done freelance design or photography for has been incredibly easy to collaborate with, and it inspires me to make more work.
Yes, yes, I know I said it would be done in May, and I realize it’s June 2nd. My excuses are thunderstorms and CSS hysteria. This website will always be a work in progress, I’m sure, but I’m at a happy place with this right now.
I promise it’ll be done soon, everyone. valerieleek.daportfolio.com will be no more! Although, I do recommend daportfolio for anyone needing a quick and simple way to get your work on the web and ready to go for interviews or presentations. It’s free and super easy, but now that I’m about to start applying for jobs, I’m making a website that is more flexible for me… and designerly I suppose. I redesigned my resume, so that was a huge task to get through.
I can’t decide if I’m refusing to study because I’m having a hard time accepting that college/school is going to be done forever, or if I’m just in my usual procrastination mode. Probably a little bit of both. I have one final tomorrow, and then my last one is on Friday. THEN I GRADUATE FROM COLLEGE ON SATURDAY! Yipes!
To keep myself busy with design (outside from work at Creative Services), I’m picking up freelance work and a few contests. The band, Thousands, is looking for a poster design to advertise the release of their new album, The Sound of Everything.
